On November 6, 2018, partners of METIDA Law Firm, Jacekas Antulis and Margus Sarap, visited us and conducted in-depth communication with our partners Eric Liu and Crystal Kwok about European patent and trademark matters.
Founded in 1991, METIDA is the largest intellectual property law firm in the three countries of the Baltic Sea. It holds a leading position in IP area with its business conducted in EU countries, Russia and Belarus.
During this visit, the two parties mainly focused on the practice concerning application for European patents by Chinese companies, and that by European companies and individuals for trademarks and patents in mainland China. Meanwhile, Eric explained the current status of IP protection in China and related national policies and guidance. Jacekas said, he hoped to get a deeper understanding of Chinese companies' interest in applying for European patents and trademarks as well as their needs, and they looked forward to strengthening cooperation with us.
At the end of the meeting, Jacekas and Margus updated us with the latest news regarding European patents which he believed would be helpful for Chinese companies.
